Use of Practice Facilities

These rules cover both practice grounds at Ham Manor unless otherwise stated.

  1. You must report to the pro-shop and register before using either area.
  2. You must always use courteous behaviour and language with any other players using the facility.
  3. Both areas are for multiple use (within reason) at each facility unless marked otherwise.
  4. Players must only use the areas in one direction. i.e. – from the stipulated playing point.
  5. Players are required to synchronise the collection of their practice balls. As a recommendation it would help collection of balls if your practice balls are easily identifiable and marked.

At the practice ground alongside the 9th fairway

  1. This practice ground is accessed by passing the Practice nets, walking up the 1st Hole on the right-hand side of Gratwicke Course and around the Hut.
  2. Balls must only be hit from the Wooden hut and NOT towards it.
  3. Club selection must be restricted to a maximum distance of 200 yards. A 200-yard placard is displayed and balls should not be hit beyond this point unless the Golf Club Professional is in attendance giving a lesson.
  4. In this area, any person using the practice area must be aware of players from both the 2nd and 9th holes trying to retrieve or play wayward shots. These players will always have preference over anyone using the practice ground.
  5. Returning from the practice ground is by walking along the left-hand side of the 1st hole on the Gratwicke course towards the Practice nets, always checking that no players on the Manor Course are playing in this area.

Accessing the lower practice ground

  1. This must be accessed via the 1st
  2. You must give preference to any player teeing off from the 1st
  3. You must not walk down the 1st fairway towards the bridge when any player is teeing off from the 1st
  4. When the 1st tee is free and empty, you must walk down the left-hand side of the 1st fairway on the path to the bridge and cross over the bridge turning immediate right and walk along the black ditch to the practice ground.
  5. If any players are waiting on the 1st hole, you must ask their agreement to enter the 1st fairway to access the practice ground and advise them where you will be walking.
  6. Returning from the practice ground is by walking along the black ditch to the gravel path, taking players to the 9th green and practice nets, instead of walking back up the first fairway.
  7. When returning from the practice ground, you must check there is nobody playing from the 1st tee when you want to cross the 1st fairway alongside the black ditch.
